wow. it seems my dstl1 had this coming. I was using a non-smart phone for a year because I thought I finally killed it for good. 2 days ago I gave it a try and it was working like a charm. No problems whatsoever. No camera problem, no LED problem, no wifi problem. I gather it needed sometime off) Let me give this new rom a try. way to go good old crzyruski!!!

ROM: OpenX2 v1.4.1.0+ boot_4050_4138_lzo_ext_CR
Patches:GooglePatch_v1.3.1.0
Firmware:1.6
Recovery: Andferno v.1.6.1.4
HW Version: V5T7
Kernel: 2.6.28-1.4D
Good to see you back! Hope to keep you around a bit longer![]()
you bet. now I have installed the new 1.4.1.23, the problem is:
there are two calibration screens, both sdksetup and setup wizard asking for the same calibration one of which in my case is turkish. So quickly I used the status bar (between fc messages) to jump to the settings and change locale and txt to eng (us). then I thought I was able to pass calibration but when I press the home button I have calibration and google location services waiting for approval, with a constant message com.android.setupwizard unexpected etc.
so I was unable to get the phone to launch the launcher.
I tried to wipe everything, wipe SD, redo flashing, same result.
But through hardware buttons I could see
camera working,
video working,
both SIM radios and APNs working and connecting,
Wifi not working (same behaviour with an earlier boot)
media and audio working fine and fast (nicccee)
sms working
alarm working
I took the liberty to flash the old rom, calibrate, go back to recovery console, keep the data and flash the new rom again to see if I could go behind the sdksetup but no result.
i'm now downloading the r5003 rom so I can use the phone. Any suggestions?

I only get one calibration screen... weird. Updated the build, sorry about that... http://hotfile.com/dl/136744726/df9f....1.23.zip.html As you can see from the attached images, I select SDK (this is the way to go, otherwise you must wipe) and then proceed as usual. Wifi is still broken - if you use original 5003 boot.img then it will work (1.4.1.22 had working WiFi). I would only use modded ROMs, avoid the leaked ones unless you plan to mod them yourself.

great, it worked. Apart from above what i can say is;
really bad launcher, but well-packed and quite compact. no fc's so far but it sort of seems like heating the battery in a phone call. 1.4.1 didn't do it. this is contradicting though. ???

build 5003 is more rich in features, so possibly this eats more juice...
Or maybe this is due to the fact that I tried to turn on debugging in kernel... and thus break wi-fi.
I will continue to investigate logcat and /proc/kmsg for clues of what needs fixing in the code.
Using these clues I search Google and 5003 kernel source code for where the issue might originate.
I encourage everyone to do the same, it is fairly simple, but takes up the little time I have.
by the way, on OpenX2 v1.4.1.22 the WiFi is not broken and I was able to test the built-in WiFi Tether App, I was surprised to see it work... It worked well enough for me to use VPN to download email and slow web surfing - not bad for EDGE.
I have yet to try BlueTooth tethering...
When trying the "built-in tether" feature, it required a driver so I never got to finish this.
On the other hand, Ubuntu 10.04 saw the device as "eth4" - which is a good sign.

Battery life is great! 1 day and 11 hrs so far with full data connection (EDGE/WiFi) and sync turned on, a medium amount of SMS messages![]()
