    What is the trick to removing unwanted apps? ie, Stocks.apk. The filesystem is read-only.

    You have to boot into ClockworkMod Recovery, and Mount /system

    Then you would do the following from ADB:
    cd /system/app
    rm -r Stocks.apk
    rm -r Stocks.odex

    Just tried using an HTC Hero on 2.1 and I get stuck on Step 7. It comes up as offline but unplugging and re-plugging the USB does not change it to recovery.

    @Everyone..
    If the Device was Release with 1.5, then this will never work, as your Phone was updated 2.1.. The Reason I stated 2.1 Devices is due to the New Recovery that is ship on the new Device's..

    It might work, but I wouldn't be 100% sure it will.. Just FYI

    You mean version 2e recovery? The eris has that. My main question is how do you guys get yours to recognize the adb device while in recovery? We get Android Disk Drive just fine, but no adb composite once we enter recovery. It works fine during hboot. Any ideas? I know this isnt your area of expertise necessarily but any help is appreciated.
