Default [GUIDE] Manually flashing an update image to your Google Nexus One

    *** WARNING ***
Please remember that AndroidSPIN is not liable for anything that happens to your phone using this guide.

This guide will help you manually flash an update image to your Google Nexus One.

    1. First thing you have to do is rename your update file to update.zip.
    2. Copy the update.zip file onto your microSD card.
    3. With your Nexus One powered off, hold down the trackball and press the power button.
    4. You'll be booted into a white screen with three Android robots on skateboards. Select "Bootloader"
    5. On the next screen, select "Recovery"
    6. Your phone will reboot, giving you a picture of the Android robot and an exclamation point inside a triangle.
    7. Now press the power button and volume up button at the same time. It could take a couple of tries.
    8. Now (using the trackball this time) choose "Apply sdcard:update.zip" and let things run their course.

I followed the instructions to the letter.

I have a very recent Nexus one bought directly from google.

When I follow the instructions everything works until I get

    ---- Install from sdcard....
    Finding update package ....
    Opening update package ...
    Verifying update package ...
    Installing update ...
    assert failed: file.getprop(/system/build.prop", "ro.build.fingerprint")=="google/passion/passion/mahimahi:2.1-update1/ER27/24178:user/release-keys" || file.getprop(/system/build.prop", "ro.build.fingerprint")=="google/passion/passion/mahimahi:2.1-update1/ER27/38042:user/release-keys"
    E:Error in /sdcard/update.zip
    (Status 7)
    Installation aborted.

I have checked with a friend who update his and I have the identical file
    md5sum 5911bc88f5f9ddd25ed918a98f309ae6 update.zip

Has anyone else experience and hopefully over come this problem ?

    My phone says
    Firmware version 2.1-update1
    Kernel version 2.6.29-01117-g4bc6c2 android-build@apa26 #1
    build number epe548

    Any assistance greatly appreciated

    Andrew

Do you have the Stock Recovery image installed?
It sounds like your trying to flash an update that requires the Stock recovery.

I have the same exact problem/error with a brand new N1 (Received 6/4/2010).

I have done nothing with recovery images, so I assume it is stock.

    Any ideas?

I have been having somewhat of the same problem. I have a T-Mobile N1 unlocked, and I am fairly sure that I did not flash any new recovery image. I have been trying to flash the FRF50 update and get an update aborted any ideas. Feel free to e-mail me with any questions.

Do you have an AT&T Version or a T-Mobile version ?
This update will only work on the T-Mobile Version as far as we know!
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong!
